Small minor misunderstandings get magnified which result in the separation of a newly married couple (played by Jeetendra & neetu Singh). They each contact a lawyer to file for divorce. On the other hand Dolly's father (played by Utpal Dutt) tries to save the marriage by feigning illness and coming to stay at his daughter's place so as to bring the estranged couple together.
The film had the most memorable songs composed by Rajesh Roshan like 'Koi Roko Na' (Kishore Kumar) and 'Palkon se chin gayi' (Asha Bhosale).
