When I planned 'Rajni', I never had Priya in mind. I shot with Padmini Kolhapure but she could not devote time. Then I met Priya, I knew her father well. I asked her whether she had time to shoot thrice a week. When I saw her on screen I realised that only she could have done 'Rajni', there was no one else who fitted the role. She was superb as 'Rajni' on and off-screen. Till the end she was 'Rajni'- the crusader.
